Hypnotherapy is an effective form of therapy used to treat conditions, issues or change unhelpful habits. It harnesses the power of suggestion to encourage positive change, whilst the client is in an 'altered state of awareness and relaxation'. This relaxed state occurs naturally; the state between consciousness and sleep, when immersed in music, reading a book, being focused or in deep concentration.
Deep relaxation techniques are used to facilitate this tranquil state, allowing the subconscious mind to receive positive suggestions in order to communicate with the conscious mind and bring about the change clients are seeking.
Clients are always in control, working with images, events and memories which are meaningful, safe and appropriate. Hypnotherapy can be extremely effective with a wide range of issues and challenges, promoting long-lasting change. Issues can be treated on a session by session basis and I also offer specific Hypnotherapy Programmes, which are a set number of sessions.
I use a blend of Hypnotherapy techniques, please find below further information on these different therapies:
Ericksonian Hypnotherapy named after Dr. Milton Erickson, uses indirect suggestions, metaphors and imagination with evidence-based techniques to bring about positive behavioural change. This type of therapy is effective for a wide range of issues, which works with the subconscious mind to bring about conscious change.
Cognitive Hypnotherapy uses a blend of Hypnotherapy techniques, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) to help you reach specific goals and behavioural change. This is particularly effective for treating anxiety and phobias.
Solution-Focused Hypnotherapy combines Hypnotherapy with Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, which helps you to address your present situation, the solution to your issues and explore new pathways for future positive change.
Suggestion Hypnotherapy forms a large part of any Hypnotherapy, utilising positive suggestions to help attain the desired changes. An Ericksonian approach certainly encompasses this type of therapy.
Hypno-Psychotherapy blends Hypnotherapy with Psychotherapy to help explore deep-seated issues to encourage conscious change.
Regression under Hypnotherapy can help you recover past memories, particular events and may be useful to 'un-lock' certain issues and patterns to change behaviour and beliefs.
Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) is often used alongside Hypnotherapy, focusing on the mind, body and language utilising conscious participation to change any subconscious patterns.
Each Hypnotherapy session is bespoke, using selected techniques and utilising my skills as a Counsellor and Psychotherapist. This ensures a professional, safe and ethically robust environment for effective therapy.
Counselling, Psychotherapy, CBT, EMDR Therapy and Holistic Therapies are also available separately or can be integrated within or alongside Hypnotherapy sessions, if considered beneficial.
Hypnotherapy sessions incorporate a blended approach of Hypnotherapy, Counselling and Psychotherapy. Your initial session will form our introduction, contract and assessment, followed by Hypnotherapy and a personalised treatment plan, taking up to 90 minutes. At the end of this session you will have a good understanding of how Hypnotherapy works for you and we will discuss the plan forward for any future sessions. Further Hypnotherapy sessions are generally up to 90 minutes long, tailored to your specific requirements and the goals you wish to achieve.
Issues are treated on an individual bespoke basis, with no pre-determined number of sessions. I am mindful of covering as much as is appropriate in each session to help facilitate the changes you wish to make, and pride myself on providing effective therapy in as few sessions as may be appropriate to help make those lasting changes and improve overall wellbeing.
